For over two years, I have been working on the TEAM project together with other music educators to develop learning offers on the future topics of sustainability, democracy education, and digitization for music education. We follow the design-based research approach: the learning offers are literature-based and are repeatedly tested and evaluated in different settings. 

The first public result of our Work Package 3 is sustain_sound. It was published on openmusic.academy—a platform for open education resources in the field of music education and musicology, where all materials can be edited under a CC-BY license.

sustain_sound is a seminar and workshop concept that explores the connection between sustainability, futures-thinking, and music education through soundscapes.

Developed initially by Philip Stade, Jonas Völker, and Eva-Maria Tralle, it engages participants in listening exercises, sound mapping, and creative soundscape design to reflect on ecological change. The modularly structured seminar draws on concepts from acoustic ecology, particularly the work of R. Murray Schafer and Hildegard Westerkamp, encouraging participants to record, analyse, and imagine the sounds of past, present, and future environments. The goal is to develop critical listening skills and explore how sound can represent sustainability and future scenarios.

Seit über zwei Jahren arbeite ich gemeinsam mit anderen Musikpädagog*innen im TEAM-Projekt, um Lernangebote zu den Zukunftsthemen Nachhaltigkeit, Demokratieerziehung und Digitalisierung für die Musikpädagogik zu entwickeln. Wir verfolgen dabei den designbasierten Forschungsansatz: Die Lernangebote basieren auf Literatur und werden wiederholt in verschiedenen Settings getestet und evaluiert. 

Das erste öffentliche Ergebnis unseres Work Packages 3 ist sustain_sound. Es wurde auf der openmusic.academy veröffentlicht – einer Plattform für offene Bildungsressourcen im Bereich Musikpädagogik und Musikwissenschaft, auf der alle Materialien bearbeitet werden können.
